Our Purpose

Revolutionary War Still Life

The Sons of the American Revolution is the leading male lineage society in the United States and whose members trace their heritage to the War for Independence.

The Kansas Society was formed on March 31st, 1892 with sixty charter members. The membership, which has included past state governors, reside in many communities across the state.

Today, the SAR perpetuates the stories of patriotism, courage, sacrifice, tragedy, and triumph of the men who achieved the independence of the American people in the belief that these stories are universal ones of man's eternal struggle against tyranny, relevant to all time, and will inspire and strengthen each succeeding generation as it too is called upon to defend our freedoms on the battlefield and in our public institutions.
